War defeat capture cruelty torture death survival release peace pain torment love forgiveness - "for eventually the hating has to end".
If you don't know what happened to POW's in Burma in WW2 and you have not read Bridge on the River Kwai or Miracle on the River Kwai this a great place to start - mesmeric.
