Review of The Railway Man (2013) by Mark J — 26 Jan 2014
Spent the first thirty minutes of this film wondering if we really needed another story of Japanese brutality during WWII and the post traumatic stress of its victims, even if wrapped in an unlikely love story on British Rail.
Turns out we do. Turns out it wasn't all beer and skittles on the other side either after the war. Doesn't have the finess of '12 Years...' but nevertheless powerfully told.
