Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by Alexander M — 30 May 2014

The Raid 2 is simply one of the greatest action movies of all time period. When the first Raid came out two years ago, for many people who saw, they claimed that it was one of the best action films to come out in a while.

With a great response from critics and audiences, director Gareth Evans finally was given the chance to make the film he wanted to make which was supposed to be the first installment was Berandal, which is now The Raid 2.

I loved the first film, but it had problems in the story, dialogue, and characters aspect. However, The Raid 2 takes everything that you loved about the first film and increases it by a million, and offers a more interesting story, interesting dialogue, and more interesting characters.

The action scenes are in my opinion, some of the greatest action scenes I've ever seen in my life. There is no shaky-cam, it is perfectly filmed action scenes with wide angled shots that are better than most action blockbusters nowadays.

Everything that was a minor complaint in the first Raid, The Raid 2 fixes all those mistakes gives a much more improved film. The film's length time is 2 hours and 30 minutes long, but never does the film feel like it's dragging on.

Heck, the film could have been 3 hours long and it would have been fine. Gareth Evan is a director who knows what he's doing, and is now is becoming one my favorite directors. With only a 4 million dollar budget, The Raid 2 is better than most 100 million dollar blockbusters and that's saying something.

Unlike most action movies nowadays, The Raid 2 offers compelling characters, an interesting story, magnificent tension, and fantastic action sequences that I have ever seen. The Raid is one of the best films of the year, and for me it's a contender for being the best film of the year.

I highly recommend this film to everyone because it is simply phenomenal.
