Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by Dann M — 05 Sep 2014
Iko Uwais brings the noise in The Raid 2, a thrilling action-packed martial arts film. After learning of his brother's murder rookie cop Rama agrees to go undercover in order to bring down one of the most powerful crime syndicates in the country.
The plot's pretty formulaic, but the fight scenes are incredibly intense and well-choreographed. Additionally, there's a wide variety of fighting styles and weaponry; which keeps the fights from getting repetitive or stale.
The characters too are given depth and personality, making them feel like more than generic gangsters and henchmen. Extraordinarily well-made, The Raid 2 is an exciting film that surpasses the original.
