Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by James R — 28 Dec 2014
Amazing what a slightly bigger budget will give you if you're a talented director. The Raid 2 is bigger, better looking and to me overall a better movie than The Raid Redemption (2011) was. The film takes place immediately after the events of the first film.
We follow the hero cop from the first film Rama (Ico Uwais). Rama this time around goes undercover in the criminal underworld. He goes to prison and befriend one of the crime bosses sons Uco (Arifin Putra).
Before long Rama starts climbing the ranks and gets to the bottom of the conspiracies started in the first film. The movie has some of the best fight scenes I've ever seen on film. Some fights go on and on and its a credit to the choreography.
The film isn't for the faint of heart though it is super violent and bloody. Overall, any martial arts fan should definitely give this one a look!
