Review of The Rage in Placid Lake (2003) by Matthew B — 17 Feb 2009
This is a great movie if you can understand the Australian dialect... fortunately for me, I have australian friends. It's kind of an awkward coming of age story for one boy named Placid Lake who's only desire is to fit in and be seen as normal.
Unfortunately for him being normal was never in the cards. The story is sprinkled with distinct character types, all pulling Placid in different directions, the dialogue is great, dirty at times, but witty.
Placid always seems to come up with new and creative ways to deal with the problems in his life, I especially like the part where he throws the glass of juice in his father's face in calls him a faggot cock-sucker! A feel-good movie with a queer but happy ending, I'll recommend this to anyone.
