Review of The Quiet Man (1952) by Lauren H — 02 Apr 2008
It may not be historically or culturally accurate, but what Hollywood movie is? A charming film about a man who returns to his childhood home in Ireland, falls in love with a fiery woman (Maureen O'Hara, who made a career out of playing a fiery woman), and has to come to terms with his past before he loses her.
An entertaining comedy, at times quite explicit for 1952, with some beautiful countryside and the most adorable secondary characters in film. I'm not a huge John Wayne fan, but he's on top form here.
The last fifteen minutes are beyond hilarious.
