Review of The Quiet Man (1952) by Mike F — 10 Jun 2008
Probably my dad's favorite movie of all time, and a classic for the ages, with good reason too. this is no mere john wayne film, there are no cowboys, no showdowns, and no captives. instead, this film has a great story, fantastic characters, and beautiful cinematography all the way from ireland.
the screenplay is taken from a short story, and it is full of memorable one-liners. wayne and o'hara create a fun, believable chemistry that holds right till the finale. the iconic fight sequence between wayne and mclagen keeps bringing on the laughs as well as the punches.
