Review of The Quiet Man (1952) by Jason H — 04 Jul 2009
John Ford and John Wayne depart from their usual conjoined material. John Wayne's performance is yet more proof that he was so much more than a western/action star...he is a great actor. He shows his ability to project humor and this is one of his best roles (it was also his favorite) It is clearly a labor of love for those who made it.
The setting, music, cast, and story are all strong. Maureen O'Hara is great and her chemistry with Wayne is wonderful. Ford even gets Ward Bond in it! Great movie.
