Review of The Quiet Man (1952) by K W — 12 Jan 2011
People are often quite surprised when I list The Quiet Man as one of my all-time favorite movies. They are either unfamiliar with it or unable to grasp how a movie made some 57 years ago could possibly appeal. Lay aside, for the moment, the all-star cast and their outstanding performances. This is a film with atmosphere, humor, and drama, beautifully produced and delivered. It is, quite simply, magic - and engaging to viewers of all ages.
For me, the ultimate measure of a film is whether or not I will watch it again. I keep coming back to The Quiet Man.
