Review of The Quiet (2005) by Ronald C — 09 Dec 2007
I liked this movie for its subtlety and, admittedly, Elisha Cuthbert in it was a come-on as well. I later learned that this was a co-production of University of Texas film majors through Burnt Orange, which is cool because it exposes them to hands-on filmmaking.
Camille Belle's performance was entrancing and so was Edie Falco's. The weak point for me was the relatively slow pace of the plot and lack of suspense. Halfway through the movie, I had a suspicion that the father was abusing Elisha Cuthbert's character, which would have been okay had the action onscreen moved along a bit faster.
But overall, a very satisfying movie.
