Review of The Quiet (2005) by Lucy M — 11 Feb 2011
I think I expected a bit more from this, it didn't quite deliver. The subject is interesting, the actors are good but the story doesn't really make that much sense.
First, Dot, the deaf girl, annoyed the hell out of me. Second, I couldn't understand how people kept talking to her when it was clear she wasn't reading their lips, and yet she seemed to understand everything they were saying. Third, the ending was beyond bizarre, and not in a good way.
Despite it's flaws, I'm glad movies like this are being made, just wish the filmmakers had made more of an effort to make it believable.
