Review of The Quick and the Dead (1995) by Matthew C — 09 Jul 2010
I'm glad Hollywood has finally gotten the long circulated memo that Sharon Stone can't act. But before that happened, she'd managed to be a black mark on many otherwise pretty good movies. This is one.
A solid cast of veterans, up and comers, and character actors do their bit to improve the overall quality of the film, and though jarring at times, Sam Raimi's usual shtick is fun in a western context.
This is probably my favorite Russell Crowe performance and Gene Hackman is great as the outlaw turned evil mayor. A good watch for western fans, but boy do I wish they'd found a different leading lady.
