Review of The Quick and the Dead (1995) by Richard W — 01 Apr 2011
The Quick and the Dead directed by Sam Raimi is a western based around a gun draw tournament in a small town in the west. Sharon Stone plays a gunslinging woman who has vengeance on her mind against the outlaw mayer Gene Hackman.
With a cast consisting of Sharon stone, Gene Hackman, Russel Crowe, and a young Leonardo DiCaprio The Quick and the Dead can certainly boast that it has a good cast. It can't however boast that it is a western that stands out amongst the rest.
What starts off as a good film ends up turning into a crappy mess at the end, where the ending is a come down to the rest of the film and leaves too many unanswered questions that the audience wants to know.
I was sitting there half way through the film thinking that this is a good I'll go out and buy it, but when I saw the ending I thought nah! Its OK Its just that it isn't quite good enough for me.
