Review of The Quick and the Dead (1995) by Daniel W — 11 Jun 2011
After the hugely successful Evil Dead films, director Sam Raimi brought his flamboyant style to the Wild West for this rabid rip-roaring Western yarn that combines the traditional gritty and violent gunslinging action with a supernatural twist.
Sharon Stone is a female gunslinger who comes back from the dead to seek a brutal revenge on Gene Hackman's terrifying Sheriff with the help of Leonardo Dicaprio's fiesty young gunslinger and tough ex-husband Russell Crowe.
The idea of whizzing the camera along a bullet may seem a little out of fashion, but there's enough bloody violence for an elegiac adventure.
