Review of The Queen and I (2008) by Borhan K — 14 Dec 2013
This documentary was an interesting as a person that have Persian family and connections although I have never been brought up in what I would classify as a completely Persian culture I am more a mixed cultural upbringing.
This documentary shows a women film maker a Persian lady wanting to get an interview with the Persian/Iranian Queen.
This was a up down message. doco.
I feel that it was more a documentary on the Queen than rather than the Persian kingdom as such.
The only dislike I have about all this film was the up down feeling that the Queen had about the film maker. The queen had some interesting advisers that really disrupted the flow of the documentary and this was no fault of the Queen or the film maker.
I can understand the fact of the risk all parties were taking to complete such a show.
It really is an eye opener for all to really get a better understanding of what happen in Iran when the King got booted out basically.
I am not making any judgement on the film I leave the investigating to you and you to make up your own mind about this film.
A matter that comes to mind is the real sorrow the Queen has had having lost so many of her family members such as her youngest daughter still effects her till this day. No mother/parent should have to go through such hardship.
On a side note you will see France and all its glamour.
I hope I see more documentaries like this for the younger generation that did not have to go through the hardships and pain the older Persian generation went through to give us a better understanding and a glimpse of what it was like.
Although this is unrated and suitable for all ages I would recommend the younger ones watch it with parental units as some of the themes discussed maybe a little delicate for the young ones to understand.
Give it a shot you may be surprised.
