Review of The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) by Rafaele L — 26 Mar 2008
One of Woody's best constructed films. A stupendously entertaining and well.
Made story about Keatonisque idea of crossing the border of reality and film. Lacks, as usual, the grand scale that Allen has throughout his career avoided, but succeeds in almost every other level that a small scale, warm and above all, humane film can succeed. Daniels is great in his double-role, Farrow and Aiello both effortlessly good. One more of these Woody, please.
