Review of The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) by Jen T — 17 Jan 2009
I was lucky to see this film in the cinema when it first came out. Revisiting it over 20 years later I still enjoy it immensely and appreciate it ever more! This seemingly "simple" story is consisted of so many layers of emotions, hope, society, philosophy, real day-to-day life, and of course how cinema provides an escape to it.
This film is definitely one of Woody Allen's best.
