Review of The Purge: Election Year (2016) by Paopao P — 13 Jul 2016
I'd say I am a somewhat fan of The Purge series. it's a fantastic idea, even if in every film (including this one), the execution is just bad. the first one was a middling home invasion thriller that never went to its full potential, the second one brought it to the streets and was much better, The Purge: Election Year, the newest Purge film, is also on the streets but it's not as good as the second installment.
the dialogue is absolutely horrendous and the acting is equally as bad except for Frank Grillo and the lady who played the senator. there was a girl who I will rightfully call the "chocolate bar girl" (if you see the film you'll know exactly who I mean), who was absolutely terrible and ridiculous and everytime she spoke I just cringed.
it has some cool action scenes and some creepy scenes and it's ultimately a very passable and fun diversion. it's nowhere near great, but if you're a fan of the first two, I'm sure you'll like this one.
