Review of The Purge: Election Year (2016) by Therussianator — 06 May 2018
Frank Grillo is back and this time he has to protect a senator who's trying to end The Purge. The movie has some impressive violence and some of the masks look cool but that's it. Frank Grillo can't save this movie with his once again pretty good performance.
Everyone else is bad. Elizabeth Mitchell from "Lost" is surprisingly awful as her character is one-dimensional and she refuses to express any emotion. The villains aren't menacing, sometimes even cringe-worthy.
The political message this movie tries to deliver is slapped in your face as if you're too dumb to figure it out on your own.
