In terms of plot & pace, the sequel is way better then the first film. however, the tension and suspense from the first film was not carried over, which was quite a pity. this does not make the second film inferior, which it perform better overall.
I like the portion where more of the psychology and society of the fictional america where the purge exist was shown.
