Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Mark W — 21 Jul 2016
While the original film confined a fairly interesting premise to a rather dull home invasion horror plot, this sequel at least adds a larger scale, yet the action and characters are so lifeless, it's hard to care about who does and doesn't get purged.
Frank Grillo does well with what he's given and actually carries much of the film, despite his tragic antihero story arc feeling fairly routine. Perhaps rent The Warriors instead if you want a violent city wide chase film.
