I recently watch the movie "The Purge". When I saw the trailers for this movie, it looked stupid and unrealistic. Well I finally sat down and watched it and much to my surprise... I was totally right. I can't even describe what a stupid, stupid, STUPID movie this is! What is the plot? Well once a year, America has their annual Purge, and what's a Purge? Apparently for 12 whole hours, all crimes including murder is legal. That's right LEGAL! and that's the set up and pretty much the plot. I will say this... the plot itself is a plot hole! What kind of government would be so stupid enough to allow this!? Even the reason why gets a little confused! They say it's to make America a better place, but then they say that the killer can "cleanse" their souls. What is this, a government thing or a church thing? The plot hole is so big that the whole movie falls through! I also don't like most of the characters, not because they are unlikable but because they have little to no personality! I can't get sucked in to characters who are in peril when they don't give us a reason why we should worry about their character. The only bit of enjoyment I got out of one of the characters was the Leader of the Purgers. He was pretty fun to watch because even though he was doing nasty and evil things, he acted like a gentlemen. He's a sadist but he's enjoying what he is doing! Even the masks that they wear are disturbing, the masks just have that creepy permanent smile on it... ohhh creepy! Unfortunately, the leader and the masks are not enough to save the movie. I'm just going to flat out say it... the twist ending is one of the weakest ones I've ever seen, it was really unnecessary for that twist. What was the purpose!? I can think of a better twist than what those paid writers wrote. All-in-all most of the characters are as developed as Styrofoam, the plot twist is very predictable and weak, and the plot is one of the most unrealistic plots I've ever heard in a set up! Aside from the Leader of the Purgers, there is nothing that will save this movie! It's just crap! The Purge makes me puke!
