Review of The Purge (2013) by Conrad T — 01 Dec 2014
Oh how I wanted to like this movie. Here we have a plot I feel is interesting where in the distant future one night a year all crime including murder is legal. All of us can think of a boss or two we would like to off.
However I feel that uneven pacing, one dimensional characters that lack depth, and the fact that it ends up being a home invasion movie sink this film. Ethan Hawk and Tony Oller try their best to save this clinker but it is much too little.
I felt that more attention should have been given to the world in which the Purge takes place instead of things like James Sandins not liking he's daughters boyfriend. Skip it.
