Review of The Public Enemy (1931) by Jay L — 29 Oct 2007
Some parts were corny, but the most interesting thing about this movie is how inspirational it was on the future of the gangster genre. It almost seems like the godfather part 1, with the brother coming back from the war, and the other involved in mob business.
The hospital kidnapping is so close to the hospital concept in Godfather Part 1, it's weird. After watching this movie, Mario Puzo must have had some serious ideas. 4 stars for influence and originality.
