Review of The Public Enemy (1931) by Jason H — 23 Jul 2008
James Cagney owns this movie. His performance holds up great to this day. The story is a commone one...one mans rise to the top of the crime world and his inevitable fall...but Cagney's performance as well as many pre-code elements which seem mundane today but shocking at the time help this stand out not only as a good movie but as a cinematic landmark within it's genre.
