Review of The Public Enemy (1931) by Ej O — 16 Aug 2008
It's the iconic Gangster film starring cinema legend - James Cagney who is terrific, as is the old-school style of story telling. Some quintessential scenes here (yes, I used the word "quintessential") that are pure hollywood classics.
Before there was Tony Soprano, there was Tom Powers, and you can enjoyably source and trace the inspiration. If you love the Gangster Genre - hands down - this is one of the best.
