Review of The Public Enemy (1931) by Dave L — 11 Dec 2011
"The Public Enemy" is a 1930s landmark gangster film which was heavily influential for future entries of the genre. James Cagney is so much fun to watch and this role made him a star. I loved the scene near the end with the close up on his menacing face as he crosses the street.
The tale may be simplistic morally and a little dated, but this movie is still to be respected and is very entertaining.
