Review of The Proposition (2005) by Cameron C — 04 Sep 2008
This movie was sooo violent at parts that it bothered me. also I found it just rather depressing. I liked the odd soundtrack of untraditional western melodies and instruments. really thats what this was, an untraditional western (set in australia), and unlike a traditional western there was no "good cow boy vs. bad cowboy". all of the characters were just so dirty and unlikeable that it was hard to watch at times. I may not be a sophisticated movie watcher, but I much prefer a movie like 3:10 to Yuma than The Proposition. I prefer a movie that you feel optimistic about good rivaling evil. This movie did enlighten me to a part of history that I knew little about, so that is the most positive thing I can walk away from it with.
I hope the John Hillcoat does a good job with the upcoming "The Road".
