The direction is awesome, but I'd be lying if I said I found it enjoyable, and I'd be lying again if I said I thought that the artistic value outweighed its flaws. This is probably Pearce's best role in his career (this or LA Confidential).
Overall, solid direction, good acting, but oddly lacking in emotional resonance and ability to captivate.
