Review of The Proposition (2005) by Dustin G — 22 Jan 2009
Outrageously bleak, and yet still filled with beautiful cinematography of the Australian outback. This film is bloody in a way that is harsh, realistic and disturbing. But handled by Hillcoat with great care and skill.
The acting is absolutely top notch all around, especially Ray Winstone. It's a damn shame this film wasn't recognized by the Academy for the '06 nominations. That's okay though. Regardless of what some people might think, a film isn't only as good as the rewards it wins.
