Review of The Proposition (2005) by Ida A — 06 Aug 2009
I'm not sure if this is worth 4 stars or not. There's a lot to like about this Western. a) It's a western b) the look is top notch (awesome colour processing), c) the soundtrack is weird d) it's really violent.
It's unusual to see an American style western movie take place in Australia and it's interesting to see the aboriginals play a large part. The characters are quite memorable. Guy Pearce (the only lead man other than Christian Bale that doesn't mind looking like shit) is a man of few words in this movie but you can't help wondering what he's thinking.
A good job by all the actors.
