Review of The Prophecy (1995) by Xofiery V — 24 Mar 2008
The angel Gabriel comes to earth to collect a soul which will end the stalemated war in Heaven, and only a former priest and a little girl can stop him. Angel Gabriel, who's really pissed at God for allowing humans into heaven (because, you see, humans have souls and angels don't, and God plays favorites).
Gabriel takes his anger out on the human race, coming to Earth to capture the soul of the most evil human alive in an effort to defeat the "good" angels that remain in God's good graces.
Angel Simon, who captures the evil soul before Gabriel does and transfers it into the body of a little girl. With the help of mary's school teacher, Katherine, Dect. Dagget and a indian healer can mary be saved from eternal damnation and Gabriel? The story is fascinating and the acting- especially by Walken, Stoltz and Mortensen- wonderful.
The plot moves quickly and is easy to follow, but it also makes you ask the question: would you really ever want to see an Angel? They destroy cities, rain brimstone from the skies, and kill firstborn children while their mothers watch.
Would you really want to see a creature of such deadly beauty? Well, only on the movie screen, maybe.
