Review of The Prophecy (1995) by Kat — 13 May 2008
The Prophecy is not a very well-known film, but it is a trilogy that I really enjoy sitting down to watch. Christopher Walken is brilliant as Gabriel, the wise-talking Angel of Death who refers to humans as "talking monkeys.
" Like most arch-angels he has a few tricks up his sleeves whenever he is forced to slum it on Earth with the mortals. Trudging around in search of a dark soul that will end the War in Heaven. He can rip your heart out of your chest, bring you back from the dead and use you like a glorified zombie while you rot away a peice at a time, and he can knock you out could with a simple "shh.
" Keep your eyes open for Viggo Mortensen's performance as the Devil, and Eric Stoltz touching portrayal of Simon, an angel on the other end of the spectrum. Littered with pop-culture and biblical references, this movie is a "must-see" on my list.
Also, don't skip out on renting the other two.
