Review of The Prophecy (1995) by Jeffrey L — 26 Mar 2009
I love movies with religious overtones, and out of those movies, The Prophecy series is probably my favorite. In the first movie, we follow a cop and a school teacher as they get caught up in the middle of a Second War in Heaven, this one caused by the arch angel Gabriel who is jealous that God loves humans more then the Angels now, and he wants to make things 'As they were', and many of the angels have joined him.
I love this movie for many reasons - the way they portray the Angels when on Earth in their human form, Christopher Walken as Gabriel is probably his most memorable role for me, the music is eerie and fits in perfectly, and all the acting (Except from the little girl and the other kids) is really good. And Viggo Mortensen as Lucifer was just downright creepy.
Any complaints? Well not from me, but many people may find the movie boring, as the action scenes are few and far between, and most of the movie is talking, however, personally, I loved that talking and didn't find it boring at all. It sets the history behind the events of the movie up really well and colors in the world that this movie takes place in.
