The purpose of the movie is to demonstrate the stark horrors of the Armenian genocide. The love triangle was a tool to enlist interest. The wanton and brutal murders of millions of innocents by the Ottoman empire.
Without a clear strategic rationale is portrayed well and an important movie for all to see.
