This is one of the best movies I've seen in years. True story, great actors, great direction, beautiful costumes, and not all Hollywood formula which is these days horrible. A quick google search will tell you the story behind the making of the movie and also reveal the motivation behind the bad reviews in mainstream media.
Go see it, and you won't be disappointed.
