Review of The Promise (2017) by Areg G — 23 Apr 2017
This movie is not only for Armenians. Ignore the critics ratings as because this movie supports the Armenian genocide, when in 1915 the Ottoman Turks killed 1.5 million Armenians, which is a controversial topic.
The U.S. government itself still does not recognize this historical fact due to the vehement suppression of this occurrence by the modern day Turkish government. Many critics were influenced by Turkish efforts and gave it a low rating calling the film propoganda (imagine somebody calling a movie about the holocaust propaganda saying it's unfair to nazis or it didn't happen).
So please. All people. Watch this film. Educate yourselves and enjoy a truly wonderful movie that will leave you in tears and with a newfound understanding of Armenian patriotism and history. And while watching keep in mind that while the characters in the story are not necessarily real, the events that transpired are.
