Review of The Promise (2016) by Genevieve B — 21 Apr 2017
After reading a lot of these reviews, I had a mind set going into seeing this movie that I might be disappointed. I wasn't. This armenian genocide tragedy was not undermined by the love triangle story. The love story between three beautiful characters and superior actors was not sweet and corny. The struggles that the characters felt having to deal with their love emotions and a senseless war all around them was beautifully done and not exaggerated. This war destroyed their family, their loved ones but in the end not their heart and their friendship.
I could feel the sense of honor, dignity and loyalty that triumphed despite all adversity in some of these characters. At this time these values well important. and made some men real men.
A beautiful historical story that looks honest and very well portrayed.
