Review of The Promise (2016) by Matt P — 24 Apr 2017
To bash this movie on the grounds that the love story wasn't satisfying is to completely miss the point. I'll grant that some of the acting was short of perfect, but this took nothing away from The Promise's power to convey a stunning and overlooked tragedy in our world's history.
The plot is gripping, and the characters are worthy of emotional investment. Most importantly, the personal experience of the actual Armenian Genocide is strongly felt. I strongly recommend this movie.
