Review of The Promise (2016) by Margaret K — 28 Apr 2017
The movie is a true depiction of the atrocities that my mother in law, a survivor, described to us. She and her whole family, of which she was one of two survivors on her family were marched from their village.
She dug a railroad tunnel, her sister was one of those orphans saved by American missionaries. My father in law lived by escaping the Turkish army's plan for killing him and his fellow Armenian draftees.
The movie was a condensed depiction, but accurate. The acting was very good, especially Oscar Isaac. The costumes, makeup, and scenes were first class. I highly recommend this movie.
