Review of The Producers (1968) by Tim S — 14 May 2011
Extremely funny, if not a bit dated. This isn't the usual Mel Brooks fare with over-the-top silly slapstick, although some slapstick is involved. For my money, this is the best incarnation of this story.
Very irrevrent, even for today, it can also be equally offensive in a Mel Brooks sort of way. This may not equal to Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein type quality, but it's a comedy farce rarely seen.
