Review of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) by Eva D — 11 Jul 2009
Many American films exaggerate everything, hence loses its point and becoming predicatable. Miller's film here is the opposite, covering from family issues, suicide, to drugs and yet making it simple and light, staying closer to the characters, life continues as normal.
There is no reason to make a crisis out of what is just an event. Although a little messy at first, the film settles down well, and the story flows nicely, with some lovely subtke humour at the same time as surprises.
A likeable, intelligent and well made film.
