Review of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) by Jessica T — 29 May 2010
Miller's film here is the opposite to exaggerated films, covering from family issues, suicide, to drugs and yet making it simple and light, staying closer to the characters. Life continues as normal. There is no reason to make a crisis out of what is just another day. Although a little messy at first, the film settles down well, and the story flows nicely, with some lovely subtle humour at the same time as surprises. A likable, intelligent and well made film.
High notes -.
