Review of The Princess Bride (1987) by Angelina C — 10 Oct 2012
For anyone who loved movies made in the 1980s, it is inconceivable not to be familiar with this one. A timeless classic. The film has the perfect fairytale story, it's got fighting, sports, fencing, true love, miracles, etc.
The swashbuckling fight scenes were the highlights for me but some wonderful scenes are undermined by a tendency toward comic shtick. Much of the movie is tongue in cheek. Cary Elwes is perfect as the dashing hero rescuing his damsel in distress, played by Robin Wright.
Loved by so many, it truly stood the test of time.
