Review of The Princess and the Frog (2009) by Henrik S — 12 Nov 2013
A lovely and charming back to the roots Disney film that - IMHO - captures the magic of classic Disney films and boy does it look good, both in terms of animation and the backdrop / setting. The whole New Orleans / Jazz Age hook does its part in making this feel like a 1980s Disney movie that travelled through time.
I can see why this does not hit the spot with modern audiences becaue it is pretty much an ode to classic Disney animation and probably a bigger hit with the parents than the kids but I think it can very well hold its own against the milestones in Disney film making.
As usual, the songs are average and forgettable but the sidekicks (as in so, so, so, so many Disney films) save the show, in this case, Michael Wooley and Jim Cummings ! Both thumbs up ! Lovely film.
