Review of The Prince of Egypt (1998) by Tyler M — 24 Dec 2011
Being religious, I tend to not watch "religious" movies, for being unrelated to the actual events of the Bible. But I was pleasantly surprised over how accurate it was.
Moses (Val Kilmer) was a slave boy who was saved from a cruel fate, and gets adopted from the Pharaoh's royal family. When he finds out he's not actually royalty, he flees. When he returns years later, his foster brother Ramesses (Ralph Fiennes) is now Pharaoh and tyranically being mean to the slaves. Now with the power of God, will Moses let his people go?
The Prince of Egypt has fine animation, breathtaking effects, catchy songs, and a wonderful all-star ensemble, perhaps the best ensemble I've seen in a long time, mostly along the way of Ralph Fiennes.
Though I'll say it has inaccuracies here and there, it's mostly very accurate in the bibical events. And that's what I like about this movie most of all.
FINAL VERDICT: 83%.
