Review of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) by Vladimir D — 08 Jun 2007
The film took me by surprise. I'd heard about it years ago, but never actually got around to watching it, so I ordered it. It's a product of the new wave that was taking place in Britain at the time (The Go-Between, Lolita, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) and one of the more masterful at that.
It's also interesting to see Maggie Smith's roots and that she's always been Maggie Smith. Excellent performance and a gutsy theme.
