Review of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) by Steve B — 24 May 2012
The film is an acting showcase. Maggie Smith is absolutely brilliant in this film. There is not one flaw in Smith's performance. The character of Jean Brodie seems like such a contradiction at times.
She idolizes individualism and free thinking and yet she idolizes Mussolini and Franco. It's a complex role and Smith always leaves you guessing as to whether or not she really did have her so called Brodie Girls best interest at heart.
