Review of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) by Keenan S — 12 Oct 2013
I had never seen Maggie Smith in anything other than the Harry Potter franchise, so when I saw this film playing on TV, I decided to give it a shot. The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie is an interesting drama set in a girls school about a controversial teacher, her students, and her love interests.
While the script feels erratic at times since it tries to follow so many people in such a limited amount of time, the film works quite well at exploring its main character and slowly watching her downfall and watching the actions of her impressionable students.
It's an engaging and snappy drama with sprinklings of humor and romantic drama. It's an interesting film with a lot going on within its story that is worth exploring with all the subtext and whatnot.
If you like dramas, this is one worth seeing.
